Juliet Haysom at The Courtauld Institute

On the 15 November 2008, Juliet Hasyom will take part at The Courtauld Institute's symposium, 'The World Turned Inside Out: Bronze Casting in the 20th Century'

In her paper 'Working Adaptation of Lost Wax', Juliet will give an overview of her ongoing project at Lake Shore, for which she is producing a 70 metre long series of bronze handrails. These will not only link the building with its grounds, but are designed into its ingenious ground source heating system. The paper discusses the commission, the adaptation of the casting process, and the implications of this unusual approach to the sculptural use of bronze.
