Sharon Louden: 'Fairies' at Intransit

David Winton Bell Gallery and Department of visual art, Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island, USA
September 9-October 22, 2006

'Fairies' is an installation made of 230,000 feet of black-tie wire that spans 1,800 square feet of the main lawn in front of the Philip Johnson building at the List Art Center. Because the 'Fairies' is made of steel, when it is configured outdoors its appearance changes over time. The piece will rust and collect natural debris, exhibiting its true beauty and character. At night, it also has the ability to reflect light, as mirrors and reflective sheeting pick up reflections from various sources. 'Fairies'is a piece that is a foreign, magical man-made landscape within a natural environment.
