I am interested in the ability of any image to evoke the unseen in the seen, the imagined in the real. Drawing, and specifically line, allows me traverse this imagistic realm. It is the locus and protagonist of my work. At play is the idiosyncratic nature of a line which assumes many roles at once. It inscribes as scrawl, denotes as calligraphy and traces mechanically at the same time that it poses as scaffold, armature, edge or shadow. It is a line which is always mark and description, articulating an image which hovers between the stated and unnameable.
In my most recent work I am exploring the generative possibilities of curvilinear line to evoke the sensually resonant nature of forms.
