Fernando Casasempere taking part in ‘Venice: City of Dreams’
15 to 19 January 2007, 9-4.30 pm
at Sotheby’s, Conduit Street Gallery
34-35 New Bond Street
London W1
Artists travelled to Venice as guests of St George’s Anglican Church to join others from the congregation to create new works inspired by the city, to be offered for sale at an exhibition at Sotheby’s in aid of St George’s Appeal.
‘We wanted to make an exhibition that would be unique, showing Venice as a subject with the complexity and appeal to inspire artists of different generations and interests. The contributors, some experienced, others just starting their careers, comprise view painters, abstract painters, sculptors, printmakers, photographers and experimental conceptual artists. The resulting exhibition includes paintings in oil and watercolour, drawings, prints, photographs and sculptures in bronze, steel, resin, glass and ceramic. There will be surprises and some things to think about.” – Tim Llewellyn, Organiser
Fernando Casasempere has created his ‘Venice Landscape’ out of porcelain and stoneware coloured with industrial waste on steel jacks 1.10 metres high. The sculpture is in eight parts, occupying an area of approximately 3 x 4 metres.
